HOW WE HELP

Anyone who wants to follow a trajectory at NCF should do an entry/placement test. The entry test consists of reading, writing, and arithmetic. Depending on the level a separate pathway will be mapped out per person.

The Guidance Concept

A guidance counselor/job coach is assigned to ensure the success of the participant. Along with the entry/placement test is also an educational intake and care intake is done with the participants, it is determined what factors are important to the success of the participants. Each participant will get personal assistance as needed to the factors that are a barrier together with the participant to eliminate in a practical way.

This assistance consists of psychosocial support, practical assistance, support in child care and transportation. When a serious problem is identified, participants are referred to a specialist for help in the form of a social worker (NCF internal) or a psychologist (external), addiction treatment, psychiatry or other specialists.

Participants of 18 to 24 years old can make use of the services of the Expertise Center Education care (ECE), an island partnership focused on giving support in learning difficulties or specific learning needs.

The Target Group

New Challenges Foundation (NCF) offers education to adults who in one way or another haven’t had the chance to complete their education and/or in living conditions that make it difficult to complete his/her education. In addition NCF courses for adults who are already active on the labor market and wish to develop themselves further.
NCF focuses on 4 different target groups:

Illiteracy and functional illiteracy

Young adults without a start qualification (18 to 24 years)

Long-term unemployed

Education

Education

New Challenges Foundation offers both full-time and part-time training courses in the following areas:

  • Literacy

  • Youth Social Opportunity Program (SKJ)

  • Adult Education

  • Language courses (in collaboration and upon request)

  • Computer courses

The design of these pathways or opportunities and future projects is done in close consultation with the Gwendoline van Puttenschool and the labor market so that out flow is possible. Because of the changing political structure NCF has also close consultation with the public entity St. Eustatius, the ministries of education, culture and Science (OCW) and the ministry of Social Affairs and Labor (SZW).

“Service is never about you and how well you are doing, but about how satisfied are the persons you serve.”
“Don’t let your outwards appearance define you, but be defined by the beauty of your heart and mind.”
“What you put into it, will determine what you will get out of it.”
